Golden Ears Bursary
The Kiwanis Club supports promising graduating students who have demonstrated an interest in community service.
Value: $6,000 to be distributed amongst selected recipients in values of $500, $750 or $1,000
Eligibility: Grade 12 graduating student of a SD42 Secondary school who is a resident of Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows (separate consideration is given to students who reside outside our cities but attend school in SD42)
Criteria:
a) Applicants must be pursuing post-secondary education at a college, university, or trade institution, for which graduation from Grade 12 is a requirement.
b) Complete only the Kiwanis Bursary Application Form (Appendix I) and submit a personal letter (1.5 page max, 1.5 spaced) that provides a fulsome picture of your background, including all your school and community volunteer service, academic journey, future educational plans and financial situation.
c) Community involvement, particularly service and volunteer work, is the dominant criterion.
d) Financial need, as well as efforts to mitigate financial hardship, are strongly considered.

Dear Members of the Kiwanis Club of Golden Ears,
Thank you for selecting me as a recipient of the Kiwanis Club of Golden Ears Bursary. I am honoured to receive this award and sincerely appreciate your support of students in the community.
This fall, I will be attending Capilano University’s IDEA school of Design, where I plan to pursue a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication.
My goal is to develop my skills in design and creative communication while building a career in a field that I am passionate about.
Throughout high school, I have worked to balance academics, creative projects, part-time employment, and community involvement. Through my school’s leadership program, tutoring, volunteering with the Ridge Meadows Hospice Society thrift store, I have learned the value of giving back to others.
The cost of post-secondary education is significant, and this bursary will help reduce some of the financial pressure as I begin my studies. Your generosity will allow me to focus more fully
on my education and continue pursuing opportunities to contribute to my community.
Thank you again for your investment in local students and for helping make my educational
goals more achievable. I am grateful for your support and encouragement.
